01 / Solve the expensive mismatches first

Start at the gas line. Finish at the grill.

A built-in grill is part of a larger project. Settle these three questions before choosing finishes or scheduling countertop work.

01.

Is your gas supply ready?

The BE1-48RC-N is the natural-gas model. Have a qualified installer confirm that the supply and planned connection suit this exact appliance. Do not assume a nearby gas outlet establishes compatibility.

02.

Will the enclosure work?

Measure the actual opening and surrounding space. A “48-inch” label does not establish compatibility with an existing island, and a similar-width replacement may need different support or clearances.

03.

What is the complete scope?

Request a project quote covering the grill, installation, required accessories, and delivery. Confirm what the seller includes and where the shipment will be placed.

02 / A starting point for the installer

The opening deserves
its own conversation.

Use the official model-specific documents to review the enclosure with a qualified installer. Record the existing opening, nearby surfaces, and access points before asking whether this grill will fit.

Ask your installer to confirm enclosure materials, any required jacket, ventilation, clearances, gas connection, and electrical provision. DCS lists a 120V supply.

03 / The reason to put it on your shortlist

Know which burners
you are choosing.

Four main U-burners

This RC model uses four U-burners. The infrared burner is for the rotisserie; do not confuse it with the RCI model’s dedicated infrared sear zone.

Rotisserie and charcoal options

DCS lists a rotisserie and charcoal smoker tray. Consider whether those cooking methods belong in your regular menu before building the kitchen around them.

Room to organize the meal

DCS lists 855 square inches of primary cooking area plus a secondary surface. Decide where preparation, serving, and cleanup will happen around it.

A sensible candidate if…

  • You are planning a permanent natural-gas outdoor kitchen.
  • You will use the cooking space and multiple cooking methods.
  • Your installer can validate the enclosure and utilities.
  • The seller can deliver to your project location.

Resolve these before ordering

  • A propane-only supply or an unreviewed natural-gas connection.
  • An existing cutout that has not been checked.
  • An expectation that a cart or island is included.
  • A budget that only covers the appliance price.

Where this fits in the lineup

One of two DCS Series 9 grills (the other is propane). The hub's grill category is small but well-targeted: homeowners designing serious outdoor kitchens. If you're shopping for a $200 portable grill, this isn't the page — go to Amazon directly.

Frequently asked questions

Does the DCS Series 9 48-inch need a special gas line?

Yes. A 48-inch grill with 4+ burners typically needs a 3/4-inch gas line, not the standard 1/2-inch. Check with a licensed gas fitter before ordering.

What are the cutout dimensions for built-in installation?

Roughly 47 inches wide x 22 inches deep x 24 inches tall. Verify against the current spec sheet before cutting into your outdoor kitchen island.

Can I convert from natural gas to propane (or vice versa)?

Yes, with a DCS conversion kit. But it's a $200-300 kit and requires a licensed technician. Better to buy the right fuel type from the start.

How does DCS compare to Lynx, Hestan, or Wolf?

DCS Series 9 is in the same tier as Lynx and Hestan for build quality. Wolf is slightly above in price and warranty. For a homeowner-grade luxury grill, the choice is mostly aesthetic.

The details that
finish the decision.

Does this include a cart or complete kitchen?

The linked offer is a built-in grill. DCS lists the cart as a separate accessory. Confirm the seller's exact package contents; do not infer an included island from a lifestyle image.

Can I use the cutout numbers as building instructions?

No. They are preliminary reference dimensions for one configuration. Have a qualified installer use the current model-specific installation documents to confirm the complete design.

What should I check about freight delivery?

Enter your delivery location on Amazon and confirm coverage with the seller. Ask about access, appointment scheduling, unloading, placement, and the process for reporting transit damage before placing an order.

Does the RC model have the RCI sear burner?

This BE1-48RC-N uses four U-burners and an infrared rotisserie burner. It is not the RCI burner configuration. Confirm the full model code on the seller’s offer before ordering.

Where are the current price and warranty terms?

Check Amazon for the selected seller's price, delivery and return terms. Review DCS warranty terms and ask whether the seller and planned installation qualify for the coverage you expect.
